    Camping in Semuliki National Park is a wonderful experience which you can’t find elsewhere in other Uganda’s National Parks. At the park headquarters is the Bumaga Campsite owned and operated by Uganda Wildlife Authority.

    The Bumaga Campsite lies about 2.5km from Sempaya hot springs – a notable starting point for exploring the park and the nearby Semuliki Wildlife Reserve. Camping in Semuliki National Park is the best ideal way of exploring the park especially for visitors that wish to spend less on accommodation and for budget travelers.

    Visitors interested in camping in Semuliki National Park must bring their camping gear. These may include tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, a solar lamp table among any other necessities, to ensure your stay at the camp in Semuliki is rewarding and memorable.

    Gears to Consider when Camping in Semuliki National Park.

    Sleeping bag (with blanket, bed sheets and pillows): When camping, you will use the sleeping bags which are assuredly comfortable as well. Sleeping bags are usually accompanied by bed sheets, blankets and pillows.

    Mattress: A small mattress is an alternative for sleeping bags, Bumaga Bandas have good accommodation for tourists who opt to visit Semuliki National Park.

    Chairs and tables: Dining and wining especially while relaxing or during campfires usually require tables and chairs. Depending on your arrangement, these could be among the must-have camping gears. Please note that coming with necessary camping gear will make your camping unforgettable.

    Frying pans and pots: You will need cooking pots and frying pans during your camping at Semuliki National Park. Some safari companies may provide some of these cooking gear.

    Gas tank and burner: Since the electricity is not reliable at the campsite, you will need fire for preparing your meals. A small and portable gas cooker with a burner is ideal.

    On available alternatives, the visitor can also opt to buy meals on Uganda Wildlife Authority canteen, which provides all meals of the day such as breakfast, lunch and dinner. A wide choice of dishes are served, including beef, spaghetti, Irish potatoes, beans, rice, bananas and drinks.   

    While camping on Semuliki National Park, visitors can engage in different activities within the park, including, nature walk, Kirumia trail walk, visiting the hot springs and bird watching among others. These can make your camping unforgettable.

    Other nearby attractions within the Semuliki National Park include Kibale Forest National Park for a Uganda chimpanzee tour, Toro-Semuliki Wildlife reserve and mountain hiking in Rwenzori Mountains National Park and among others.
